Starting your own tÂshirt business can be scary, but the benefits are numerous!
Have you ever wanted to do your own thing and take pride in what you do, but still aren’t convinced that selling your own t-shirt line is worth it? Here’s a list of reasons why starting your own tÂshirt business is the best decision you’ll ever make!
- Be your own boss. Tired of spending all your time working to fulfill someone else’s
dream? When you own your own t-shirt company, YOU’RE the boss! You decide what to focus
on, what direction to take the company, and what rules you want to play by. The freedom alone is worth pursuing your own venture. I’m not gonna lie — you will put in a lot of time and work to get things going, but if you’re willing to do what’s necessary, the rewards can be great. I get to stay home and watch my kids grow up. We travel together. I would never have been able to do the things I’m able to do, like go on class field trips, if I was still working for ‘The Man’ every night and day! - T-shirts offer unlimited profit potential. According to Small
Business Daily, the average salary for small business owners is $68,000 annually, and
those with 10 or more years of experience running a business make upwards of
$105,757 per year according to Houston Chronicle. And the potential for earnings
is so much greater, it’s fully dependent on how much effort you put in. Every cent your
t-shirt company earns goes to you, and the harder you work, the more you make. No more
putting in 40Â-60 or more hours a week and still only making whatever your boss
decides… the profit is all yours! You get to decide how to price your t-shirts. - Huge tax breaks. When you own your own t-shirt business, you get to enjoy the benefits of writing off some of your expenses on taxes, like travel, food, clothing, phone bills and all kinds of other things. Plus, many small business owners qualify for government incentives, so it’s worth looking into when you decide to create your own startup.
- No risk of being laid off. This is a big fact many people overlook. You can work
faithfully for years and years for a company, be the best employee they’ve ever seen, and
make tons of money for them… And then one day, the company downsizes or closes it’s doors or
simply decides they don’t want you there anymore, and just like that, your source of
income is gone. Yes, there are risks to starting your own business, but those risks are in
YOUR control. According to the Small Business Administration, small businesses added 8 million new jobs to the economy since 1990, while in the same time period, big businesses eliminated 4 million jobs. Be in charge of your own job security today by launching your own t-shirt brand. - Create your own schedule. Want to take a two hour lunch? You can do it!
Need to take the kids to the doctor in the middle of the day? You’ve got the freedom to
do it! Want to sleep in? When you are your own boss, you create your own schedule, and you decide when you put in the work. I’ll admit, I’ll sneak out from time to time to play a round of golf, and sometimes, I’ll go home and take a quick power nap. That’s one of the perks of owning your own tshirt business. - Work from anywhere. No more long commutes every day when you own your
own business. According to Forbes, 52% of all small businesses are homeÂbased.
You can create your business environment how you want it. If you want to work from the
beach, from a cafe, or from a trendy office of your own design, you can. When I started my t-shirt company, I started from my own apartment. I had a decent sized nightstand in my room and I would press t-shirts from there. As we grew, I moved into the kitchen and eventually got my own office space with employees. Start where you can until you grow. I recommend spending as little money as possible on overhead and expenses — you’re going to need those additional funds to continue growing your tshirt brand. - Be a job creator. Not only will you be helping yourself by having a job you’ll
never get fired from, you’ll be able to create jobs and hire more team members. You’ll
contribute to society and contribute to the local economy (and just might change your
employees’ lives!) by creating new jobs for other people. - Confidence. This is one area that cannot be measured, but is worth more than all the
others combined. When you become independent, and create something that you are 100% in
charge of, where success is determined solely by your hard work and effort, the amount
of pride you’ll have in yourself is absolutely priceless. Everything in life has risks, but when you see all the benefits that owning your own t-shirt business gives you, you’ll wonder why you ever hesitated! Running your own t-shirt business is easy and will put you in charge of your own life.
