Im a Dj so i have lots of graphic designers…so my question is When i pay for my design is there anything that i may i need from him when im sending my design to a transfer company

We recommend you have the graphic artist go to the website of the transfer company you decide to use to print your designs. Each transfer company may require a specific digital file format. The file format they may require may be in a technical language you may not understand. The graphic artist for the most part will provide you with several file formats. Again, make sure you check with the transfer company prior to having the design created. It’s as easy as having the file saved in a certain file format.

I would highly recommend you hire a graphic artist to create the design for you. Find out the what type of design they want, provide the details to the graphic artist for an accurate quote. From there you’ll base the price what you want to charge the customer which includes the graphic artist fees and your pay as well.

I have spent some time working on my designs for not only t-shirts but other clothing. As you pointed out, the design softwares are difficult to quickly master.
I don’t currently plan to buy a print machine so I may have to outsource the actual production to where it is cheaper. So with the costs of shipping and production, it might be too expensive for me to hire a graphic designer. Do you know a certain way to get cheap graphic designers to create say, 5 designs?

If you’re on a tight budget; start off with one design at a time. There’s no law that says you have to have more than one design or five designs in order to get started. Start off with what you can do.

I watched your video about hiring a graphic artist to make a design, and it’s a great idea. I want to use the http://www.freelancer.com website, but I’m not sure how to advertise what I need without giving too much away. I created my design in Photoshop v. 7, and it’s almost ready to send out to be made into a heat transfer, but the design needs some tweaking, and I need someone experienced in making designs ready for heat transfer (like rasterizing fonts, making outlines using stroke, making one design ready to use on both black and white tshirts – things I don’t know how to do). Do you have any suggestions about how to write the ad? I’m nervous about attaching the entire .jpg file since it’s almost in final form. Thanks.

Please know after you have the design created and printed onto a shirt someone can steal your design. With that said, simply place an ad with information of what you are needing. Please know, it will be impossible for any designer to provide you with you want without properly communicating to the designer what it is you exactly want.
The better you communicate with the designer the closer he/she will get to creating exactly to what your vision is for your design. It’s extremely important that you’re clear and communicate extremely well regarding the design you want to have created. If you don’t; it can become a total headache; you’ll get frustrated with the ordeal and end up abandoning the project all together.
Simply write up an agreement between you and the designer stating you are hiring the designer; the design belongs to you, etc.

This is about the Epson printer, I know you recomend the 7010. The next model is usually $70 more but this week its $30 less. Do youvthink it will work as well as the 7010? I think its 7510.

We would HIGHLY recommend you hire a skilled graphic artist. The graphic artist will be able to take your ideas and create something for you that may not ever imagined was possible. More importantly, they have the skills in using photoshop and all the abode programs used to create designs. Having the knowledge of using such programs is a skill set within itself. Please hire a graphic artist, spend your time on things that matter and that will allow you to move ahead.

For the most part, most won’t. They’re simply in the business of designing. They’re not interested in making and selling t-shirts. That’s an entirely different business model for them.
