I will guide you through this process and provide you with proven strategies to help you build a t-shirt company. As one of the original pioneers to start selling t-shirts online 20 years ago, I've sold millions of dollars in t shirts to people all over the world. I founded TshirtRiches in 2007 to teach others how to turn their t-shirt ideas into a business. So if you're ready, hop onboard and let's make this money!

I think that you are fair, and i love watching your videos…it has inspired me so much

      • You are such an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    • Hi Cartess,

I need to get a website but have been furloughed from my job. I am a single parent
Trying to make ends meet but haven’t found a
reasonable website company. Vistaprint was not a good site with a great selection of templates to use. Can you assist?

      Thank you!

  • Your awesome Cartess, thank you for sharing and for keeping it real 🙂

  • Thanks for the kind words… I can’t wait to see some of your work. Keep us posted and as you progress through!

  • Not much really…. Now if you have it running all day from sun up to sun down, then you’ll notice an increase — but for startups — i can’t imagine your bill increasing more than $30 per month — and that’s on the high end.

  • Freedbyloyalty says:

very informational. thanxx for the insight

  • mizzsweets says:

Bibs? 🙂 Yeah it’s definitely a great selling product for babies. Quick question for you sir…Can you apply heat transfers to micro-fleece products? I saw a micro-fleece pull-over I wanted to apply my logo to but didn’t know if I needed special transfer paper or if I needed to do something special for it. Thanks!

    • Good question — I never did that. My gut says the traditional heat may be too high and could cause issues. Contact the supplier/manufacturer and ask them if the heat from a press would cause issues.

  • If you’re just getting started and money is an issue, you can get a cheaper machine on eBay. The Gecko brand is a decent machine to start out with if funds are tight. It’ll get you going. You can always upgrade as your biz make money.

Use the savings to get your designs/transfers made so you can start selling and making money.

Another option is to buy used from sites like Craigslist.com — I come across great deals on a regular basis. Even if that means jumping in the car and driving 3 hours to the next town over to get a bargain.

  • Cartess you are great! Your smoke detector needs a new battery…that’s what’s chirmping in the background! LOL. Keep up the great work.

  • We have a source list available for purchase. The source list includes various companies to purchase custom, and pre-made transfers. As well as blank t-shirts at wholesale cost.

The price for custom transfers will be determined by the amount of colors you have in your design. If you are on a tight budget then I would recommend no more than 2 colors in the design. The more colors in the design the more it will cost to have the designs screen printed onto the release paper.

If you would, please click the link below to purchase the source list.

  • The Gecko, is a nice machine. We do have a list of heat press machines we recommend that is listed on our site. We also suggest getting the 16×20 heat press. The 16×20 will allow you to print on larger items, but if that’s all you can afford now. Then by all means, get the 15×15 heatpress machine.

  • The printer we used was an epson color printer. It been said, that laser printer works the best!

  • Thanks for the kind words… Now put that machine to use and start making some money 🙂

Keep us posted on your progress.

  • Im looking for furthering my business, sounds like a great idea. sometime the silk screen system is great but this is so easy and just need more info.

    • Hi Jasun,
All the information is listed on our website. Please be sure to sign up for our emails and take advantage of the information we have listed on the site.!

  • Hi Cartess,
does your source list that you offer to purchase include a list of where to purchase the T-Shirts wholesale?

    thanks
    Mike

    • Hi Mike,
The source list includes vendors to purchase transfers (screen printed.) Once you have access to the Tshirt Riches membership, the membership will allow access to wholesale vendors to purchase tshirts.

  • Mr. Ross, I have been inspired so much through your videos regarding the tee-shirt business. I have my heat press machine, some transfer sheets (one of the brands you suggested) The problem is that a friend of mine that is a manager of one the most prominent printing businesses close to home and abroad told me that I may have serious problems selling my shirts. I use the transfer sheets that leave the clear boarders around it. I trimmed it, but that really hurt deep inside. I have some good ideas, but to what avail if the paper isnt right? I don’t know. I’ve been trying to encourage myself but…If you were my neighbor, I would call you and/or your wife. P.S. wish I could take your training course now but my income is stretched to the max. PFM.

    • Hi Linda,

I wouldn’t say you’ll have a hard time selling your shirts, but you’ll have a difficult time getting people to buy from you, again. Honestly, the bulk of your business will come from repeat customers and referrals. With that in mind, you want to be able to provide your clients the best product possible. Your goal should be getting them to buy from you over and over again. Along with your clients telling people about your business, products, etc.

However, as far as the quality is concerned, it will not and can not compare to the screen printed plastisol transfers. I don see his point, but that’s not completely true. Especially, if you’re selling shirts purchased from Walmart and other other similar stores you will have a problem.

This is why we highly encourage people not to use those type of machines.

We have another alternative available for those who can not afford to have their designs screen printed onto the plastisol transfers. This method will not replace the quality of screen printed transfers. However, this method is much much better than the transfers you can purchase at any local store.

Please click the link below for more details. We recommend at using any Epson printer. In the videos we used the Epson WF-7010.

  • HI Joe,
A sublimation heat press machine is the same as a regular heat press machine. Here’s information about the heat press machines we have available and what we highly recommend. There’s pricing information as well as information about the machines.

We also recommend that you purchase a machine that’s at least 16×20. Anything smaller than the 16×20 you’ll have issues printing on larger items.

If the machine are outside of your budget try looking on Amazon, Ebay, or Craigslist.

  • Which heat press machine is that in the video and is the HPN a good heat press machine?

    • Hi Cristal,

I’m not sure which video you’re looking at, but that’s an old video I believe the heat press machine on that one was a HIX machine.

Please click the links below to see the list of heat press machines we highly recommend. Here’s some information about the heat press machines we have available and what we highly recommend and no teflon sheet is needed it’s just a preference.

I am interested in purchasing some of the religious designs you use in your videos.

    • Hi Donna,

I apologize, but we do not sell designs/transfers directly. Our focus is to provide individuals with the information they need to start their own tshirt business.

However, you may purchase pre-made screen printed transfers from various vendors.

  • Raymond Parker says:

Thank you very much Mr and Mrs Ross for sharing valuable information and knowledge to us! I just received my heat press and stock transfers in the mail and I am very much excited to get started! I am currently creating designs of my own to sell, but I’m having a problem deciding what niche to go with since the market is so broad.

    • Thanks Raymond for posting! Deciding on a niche will have to be on you and trying to narrow it all down to just focus on a specific area. Keep pushing through!

  • Almonta brown says:

Thanks brother for the video, I have a newborn baby and i would like to try the baby bibs and newborn apparel for a starter. Do you have a website in mind for getting these products wholesale.

Please and thank you in advance!

  • Video was very interesting. Can you elaborate a little more about how to get involved with making money with the blanket and the photographs. Thanks for your help

    • Hi William!
The blankets were an add on product for customers to purchase, or offered by themselves. Cartess used a company to create the blankets and charged customers accordingly to turn a profit. It was another product featured for sale on the website that the customer may not have specifically been searching for initially, but would fall in love with once they saw it on the site. I will have to check with Cartess to see what company he used specifically as I am not sure.

      Thanks,
      Judy
